Embarking on the journey of starting an assisted living business is an exhilarating endeavor, filled with opportunities to create a nurturing and secure atmosphere for residents. At Assisted Living Investing, I specialize in guiding newcomers through the process of launching their own assisted living facilities within a transformative 12-month period. Today, I’m thrilled to provide you with an intimate glimpse into our assisted living facility nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Colorado. In this showcase, I’ll highlight the impressive renovations we’ve accomplished, all made possible through vital grant funding that has allowed us to enhance the comfort and quality of life for those we serve.

The Power of Grants in Assisted Living

Grants can provide crucial financial support for upgrades, renovations, and improvements to assisted living facilities. Through our grant, we’ve significantly upgraded our property, ensuring a better living experience for our residents.

Exterior Improvements: Safety and Accessibility

One of the first areas we focused on was the property's exterior. We resurfaced the asphalt driveway, removed overgrown shrubs, and added a new railing for safety. Additional concrete work improved accessibility, creating smoother walkways for residents and staff.

We also installed a new fence—enhancing both security and privacy for residents. These changes improve curb appeal and ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

Interior Renovations: Modernizing the Space

The renovations inside have been extensive. We gutted the kitchen to install new cabinets, appliances, and fixtures, creating a more functional and modern cooking space.

Many of the bedrooms were updated, and we ensured each resident has ample storage space. Interestingly, a built-in closet is not required in Colorado as long as a wardrobe or similar storage solution is provided.

Enhanced Safety Features

Safety is a top priority in assisted living. To meet state regulations, we installed a fire panel and added a fire escape. These additions ensure our facility meets the highest safety standards while maintaining its historical charm.

Basement and Attic Transformations

The basement now includes a cozy seating area, an administrator’s office, and additional resident rooms. The laundry area has been upgraded for efficiency, and a dedicated pantry ensures well-stocked food storage.

Upstairs, we maintained the home’s original character while updating essential spaces. Some rooms have been converted into shared living spaces, while others remain private to accommodate different resident needs.

Bringing New Life to a Historic Home

Originally built in the 1890s, this property holds significant historical value. While updating the home, we’ve preserved key architectural features. For instance, the bay window remains, though some intricate details had to be modified to meet modern requirements.
